3D Scanning at SCM

The School of Computing has had 3D scanning facilities for many years now. Modules and students make use of the facilities to scan, model and create characters, faces and heads and lots of other items.

We have two scanner types which are quite different. The Minolta scanner is a laser projection scanner and it works very much like a photographic camera.  The second scanner is the Zcorp 700, which scans in true 3D. Both scanners output object formats which can be imported into 3D systems and used as high quality templates.  The scanners can be freely used by students.

Please see the menu on the left for more detail.
